What does it suppose to mean?
I was not able to concentrate on the talk last Sunday during the Fresh Party. I don't know, but I didn't feel any thing during the talk. It felt like my body was there sitting and as if listening to the speaker, but my mind is somewhere doing whatever. But still, I was able to hear some of the speaker's ideas.
By the way, the verse used for the year's fresh party was "Called to be different (Romans 12:2)". Though, if you read the bible, it is not the exact verse but just the idea. And the theme for the party was "MASKARA-ZY Party". (masquerade party)
Anyway, I was just confused with what the speaker told us about masks, not literally. He said that masks are not good. But why? Does it mean that I am bad because I wear masks? I'm quite sure that people wear mask/s, so are all people bad?
Just then, a friend of mine shared her thought about this "mask thing" during our household. She said that she disagree with the speaker. She said that masks are really not bad. To clarify her view, she gave an example of a situation wherein "the mask" is useful. Here is the situation:
"In times of crisis, leaders are forced to wear a mask of courage and strength to make his/her members follow. He/She is forced to be strong in the eyes of other people to be an inspiration to that group of people. So that he/she can help his/her members to stand up and fight. And this mask is the only thing that can be used to show that, as a leader, he can truly lead the group even in times of crisis. "
I just nodded and thought that, "yeah, she could be right", but then her view made me remember something from last Sunday's talk. The speaker said that OUR masks are bad and we have to remove it from us and that we should be wearing the mask of CHRIST. Just then, I realized that the speaker was right. Maybe as of now, the masks we are wearing are not the masks that we are supposed to be wearing. We can still say that there are some people already wearing the mask of Christ, and maybe that leader in the sample is one of them. He used that mask to inspire the people to strive hard, to rise from their fall. He chose to be strong to help his members.
And now, I am clarified with what "unmask the mask" means.
