Pari-an Tour!

~~Sadly, I was not able to attend the YFC Covenant. Therefore, I won't have the "official YFC I.D." until the next Covenant. I don't really know what it's called.

My day was really tiring. I spent the whole morning roaming around the Brgy. Pari-an. It was actually, our task for our "Basic Research and Data Analysis" session. Ate Nina and I did the survey regarding the residents' view on their community's assets and needs. As we did the interview/survey, I realized that most of the people in the barangay are apathetic. Some really didn't know the services and programs of their barangay. As what I've observed, the residents focused more on the needs rather than the assets of their community, like barangay program and services, establishments, opportunities, etc.. Honestly, I am guilty of this "apathetic thing", but not really to the fullest sense. I care for our community but I don't get myself involved in the activities. I am not even sure of what barangay I belong. I don't know whose the captain and the officials and the Sk (Sangguniang Kabataan) of our barangay (neither Inayawan nor Cogon: two barangays where I assume we belong). And most of all, I don't know who are those in our neighborhood. That's how alien I am to the community. (Grabeh jud nuon ko ug reflection bah! ^_________^ )

After we finished the research, we analyzed the data. The answers of the people varied in the sense that at some point they contradict with the other results. A lot of my brain energy was consumed by tallying the different feedbacks of the respondents. Then we merged our results with the other sub-teams to formulate the general issues concerning the barangay.

During the presentation of results, we had a lot of fun sharing our experiences with the other teams.
Sample: imagine-na lang.. xp

convo 2:
a: (intro...) so sir, unsa man ang mga bahandi na inyo makita sa inyo barangay?
b: do you agree with the church interfering with the government?
a: unhmm.. yes?!
b: why? it's against the law! its stated in section (please insert the number or code here) the church is separated with the state. right?
a: uh, yes sir! but sir we are asking about the assets of your community.
b: how many years did the spaniards colonize the Philippines?
a: 300 plus years..
b: do you really think Rizal is our hero? Who had read his poems? it was written in Spanish and the Filipinos mostly were not capable to read Spanish documents. So what did he do for our country?
a: so sir noh? pero unsa man ang mga assets sa inyo community?
blah blah..
b: wala! ibutang dira, NO ASSETS!

//mao na ron!//

-- the statements above are really not accurate word-for-word, but it's the same idea.

*instead of us doing the interrogation, most of the time the "b" in Convo 2, was the one asking us questions not relevant to the survey.*

//kani na lang nia ako journal entry uie..
